Catered lunch
December 20, 2006
For today’s lunch at the office my boss had corned beef, pastrami and beef brisket flown in from Katz’s Deli in New York.
I had my fill with two sandwiches — corned beef and pastrami — and never made it to the beef brisket (maybe tomorrow).
I think Coco would have liked the pickles, as we had a choice of half-sour (darker green) and full-sour regular dill.
My boss explained that during the war, Katz’s Deli was famous for its slogan, “Send a salami to your boy in the Army!” Now that’s creative advertising copy.
The eating continues tomorrow with our official Christmas lunch, at Spago.
