Good job, Ryan

Last Saturday, my nephew Ryan Okuda rounded up a bunch of us to help him with his Eagle Scout project at the Gardena Buddhist Church. Our job? Prep and paint the 400+ yard iron fence surrounding the church property.I arrrived at 1pm — just in time for lunch — and things were well underway. Nice mix of supporters: scouts, parents and friends, all working hard and having a good time (all this without beer, I might add).

At the end of the day, great progress. Well over 2/3 done. Next step: wrap up the job on Saturday March 1.

Last but not least: a plug for Linden and Coffee Cafe, who catered lunch. The sweet/sour (short rib?) was mighty tasty, not to mention the rest of the food.

I’m sure everyone slept well that night.
