The 2003 Masters is finally under way. Just saw a cool TV commercial re: kids golf, promoting the important life skills golf can teach kids (& adults): respect, honesty, courtesy and integrity. The kids on the TV spot talked about these lessons. Not preachy, just cool. From The First Tee web site:
The First Tee Life Skills Experience is one of the unique features that differentiate The First Tee from many other successful junior golf programs.
Through the Life Skills Experience, participants learn valuable lessons about the importance of maintaining a positive attitude; how to make decisions by thinking about the possible consequences; how to define and set goals; and how to transfer values such as responsibility, honesty, integrity, respect, confidence and sportsmanship from the golf course to everyday life.
