Al Pacino’s evening

Tonight we attended the AFI Life Achievement Award gala tribute honoring Al Pacino, at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood.

It was a wonderful evening, and we had a fun table. Everyone got swept up in the hoopla, emotion and celebrity aura in the auditorium.

Some films from Al Pacino’s prolific career:

Oceans 13 (2007)

The Insider (1999)

Heat (1995)

Scent of a Woman (1992)

Glengarry Glen Ross (1992)

And Justice for All (1979)

Dog Day Afternoon (1975)

The Godfather: Part II (1974)

Serpico (1973)

The Godfather (1972)

In his acceptance speech, Al Pacino said that Francis Ford Coppola, director of “The Godfather,” really fought for him to play Michael Corleone, as the studio wanted someone else. And so he was forever grateful to Coppola.

As with most in the creative community, there was a humility and graciousness in all who spoke (except Jamie Foxx and George Lopez, who were really funny).

The show airs on USA Network on Tuesday, June 19.
